Oh man! This answer comes from someone whose periods of absence from home are very long: Talk to my love ones through a screen or phone does not compare with being able to hug them, shake hands or just be there with them. That is why I try to tell them how dear they are to me whenever we talk through Skype, Facebook, or any other social media. I try to make them feel my affection by dedicating songs, pictures, links or having a Skype session.  I also demonstrate  my love for them by behaving in the right way because I think that honoring what, for instance, my parents taught me is a way to show them how dearly I see the relationship that we have.

I know that behaving in the right way in order to show love to someone is not as tangible as giving a gift. However, it is a sign of respect towards the values that I have learned from family and friends, consequently the value that I see in their humanity, in our relationship.
