I don not think it is fair to generalize people for what someone may say or do. Right now I can think of an example in which someone was generalizing about a situation that involved me. Through an email someone said that the members of a group were not doing the right work, this person even  mentioned that he/she knew about specif people that did not do what they were supposed to do, however, he/she sent the email to everyone in the group. It gives me the doubt that they  may think I am one of those specific students they talk about,  I was afraid that for some reason my name was being confused with those students that are not fulfilling their work as it supposed to be, since I know I am doing the right work.
