First of all, I just can not imagine the world without social media.
I know facebook, twitter and all that stuff can be used for bad things, and you are exposed all the time to be stalked by some people. But in my case, living far away from my country, my family and most of my friends, social media has been a great help.
Even though the distance is a problem, all those web resources help me to feel nearer from the people that i love. If I need them, or they need me, we just have to get a computer or a celphone with internet connection and we'll be fine. Of course it makes a difference, and in my case is a good one.
I know it can become dangerous for some people, but I guess it can depend of the list of "friends" that you have included in your accounts.
