There are many reasons why the divorce rate in India is 1% and the rate is at 50% in the United States. that in India to get a divorce is shamed upon. were in the U.S. its something the happens normally every day.  india also has arranged marriage where in the U.S. this happens but not as much. so i think the arramged marriage thing works for them but wouldn't work in the U.S.

Ryan, I also think that the situation of arranged marriages is not as acceptable in the United State as is in India. Because there is a big cultural difference between these two countries. And as you said this action of parents choosing to whom their sons and daughters should marry is not the only reason to have the 1% divorce rate.
People in India struggle more than in the United States to find economic and social stability, and marriage helps to achieve this goal of "safety", therefore in India getting a divorce is not as easy as is in the United States.
So there are multiple reasons to explain the effects of culture upon the way each country sees marriage. Consequently, to explain why there is a 1% and 50% of divorce rate in India and United States respectively.

Great point, Ryan. Divorce has been deluded down into no big deal in America. In India, it is disgraceful.

That is true, divorce has been made out to be something that means nothing, and has kind of defined marriage. BEcause you always have the option to just get a divorce if it doesn't go the exact way you want it to go.
