I agree with Vincent, I think others definitely look down on people who go into sex shops. I would never do such a thing because I feel like people would be judging me. I don't even like buying feminine hygiene products at Walmart. If I do, I won't use a male cashier unless I have to because it's embarrassing. But yeah, I think that seeing someone going into a sex shop, or any place associated with sex, gives a negative connotation about what kind of person they may be.
