Personally I believe that there is nothing wrong with displaying affection in public. There are tons of reasons why when you show affection in public it changes it's nature one of them is that it is out of the norm. Now I have a question for you. Who decides what is the norm? My personal opinion is that it's little underground fairies that have several billion networks running everywhere- A.K.A. the government.
